Michael Muir’s work explores the simplification and interpretation of various forms predominately being the built environment. With an emphasis on colour and natural light the painted works explore the notion of a fusion between representation and abstraction.The work is based  from an emotive perspective steeped in nostalgia and childhood memories – either borrowed or his own.

He has won The Mosman Art Prize and been included in numerous major art awards including the Wynne Prize, Sulman Prize, N.S.W parliament Plein air prize, Metro art award and the Fleurieu prize for landscape. He has exhibited extensively in Australia and recently in Korea and London. Works are held in public collections with Artbank, Harbour City Estates Hong Kong, Maquarie Group, Mosman Municipal Council and the Muswellbrook regional arts centre.
